Description
A trillion-cut diamond (also called a trilliant, trillian, or trielle) is a triangular-shaped brilliant gemstone known for its bold geometric look, sharp brilliance, and intense fire. • Key Characteristics: • Shape & Geometry: A symmetrical, three-sided triangle with either straight or curved (convex) sides and pointed or slightly rounded corners. • Facets: Typically features between 31 and 50 facets, depending on whether it is cut as a solitaire (convex profile, ~50 facets) or an accent stone (straight or concave sides, ~31 facets). • Face-Up Size: Cut relatively shallow, meaning a greater percentage of its weight sits in the surface area rather than the depth. This gives it a larger face-up appearance than many traditional shapes of the same carat weight. • Inclusion Hiding: The dense brilliant-faceting pattern excels at masking minor inclusions and internal flaws. • History: • Origin: Developed in the early 1960s in New York City by Leon Finker, who later trademarked the name "Trillion". • Variations: A concurrent version was popularized by the Henry Meyer Diamond Company under the name "Trilliant," while Marvin Finker later patented a variation known as "Trielle". • This natural diamond has been certified.
